Called the “Left Hip/Left Leg” on Sleeping Giant maps, the cliff at the Tower Area faces southeast, is up to 50' high in places and several hundred feet long.
Outstanding features are the stone tower (built by WPA in the 1930's), a free standing spire (Chimney Rock) at the base of the cliff, Deadman's Cave (AKA Abraham's Cave) and “Devil’s Chute” which provides access from the top of the cliff.
Rock is typical Connecticut traprock but seems more abrasive than Ragged Mountain or Pinnacle. Ancient rusted pitons give evidence that climbing has been going on here for a long time.
